TCM
Let me start by explaining what TCM means before anything. TCM = Traditional Chinese Therapy. Every dis-ease in the body is stored and affected in specific organs. If your chi or lifeforce energy is stagnant or stuck, this creates a disharmony in the organs causing the body to become ill or even worse, long term chronic illness. TCM allows for you to arrive at the root of the issue, instead of treating just the symptoms. Emotions are attached to organs, and wit proper attention and care, this allows for us to heal on both a physically and emotional level.
Lung Health - Grief & Letting Go
Grief and Sadness are the emotions associated with your lungs. Grief can stem from loss or death of friends, family, and animals. If you notice yourself reliving past memories and holding yourself in a preset mindset, finding difficulty to move into the present, difficulty forgiving yourself for words spoken, for regretful experiences, each of these can truly affect your health on a much more severe level than you can imagine. Lungs are associated with clear thinking, clear communication, openness to new ideas, positive self image, ability to relax, & let go. The lungs are also associated with attachment. Attachment to people, places, objects or experiences. People spending a lot of time living in the past.
The lungs and large intestines work together. There are specific times of the day healing takes place and when they each function most efficiently, You may notice you wake between 5-7 in the morning due to the above.
The color associated with lungs is white and the element is metal. A quick overview of the Chinese New years, we are currently in the year of the metal rat This is all about building foundations. Metal is both the element of the year, as well as the element associated with the lungs. So when the lungs are affected in a metal year, ie: COVID-19, those with preexisting lung issues are especially vulnerable and strengthening them is extremely important. Focus on healing of both the lungs as well as emotional issues is imperative.
Weakened immune systems are at higher risk for viruses. Heart issues, diabetes, asthma, cancer patients, children, men and women over 65+ are extremely vulnerable sub categories to these threatening viruses and disease.
Healing Hints
Let's start with Healing, Immune boosting foods specifically for lungs and overall immunity.
Apples
Green Onions
Ginger
Garlic
Oranges
Broccoli (other cruciferous vegetables)
Pineapple
Oregano Oil
Root Vegetables (Sweet potatoes, rutabaga, turnips, etc..)
Kelp
Horseradish
Nettles

Lung Emotional “Homework”
What a great time to be home, the most perfect time to move inward and do the deeper work, the internal healing.
JOURNALING.
How do you heal while journaling? Well journaling invites us to look within, asking ourselves the questions we seem to avoid regularly. This taps into the deepest valleys within us, the space we regularly bury and skim over when others ask.
Journaling questions to ask yourself:
How does life make you feel?
Are you happy with your current life?
Are you free to live your best life today?
What or who has held you back from living your dream?
What have you accomplished in life that you are proud of?
What or who do you need to let go of?
What do you need to forgive yourself or anyone else for?
What would you tell yourself or them today?
Do you have the courage to live your best life?
Do you have the courage to speak your truth?
Are you strong enough to put the past behind you and move fearlessly into your future?
What can you do for yourself during this time of reflection? (example, self care of positive affirmations, healthy eating, reaching out to those you love via the internet or electronics, gardening, watch your favorite movies, listen to your favorite music…
